Working on both canvas and high quality watercolor paper as well as other interesting media such as Yupo paper, this class will support and encourage each student's individual process while advancing their skills among a community of artists. Learn acrylic techniques such as color mixing, layering, and working with gel mediums, as well as watercolor techniques including washes, dry brush, and creating texture with reactions using alcohol, salt, and more. Class culminates in an independent piece of each student's choice.

Please note: This class is appropriate for students to take for the first time, or for students to continue on from a previous session. Each session, students will explore new topics in Art Techniques -- supporting students to build an excellent foundation.

Interested in working on your own projects, at your own pace, in an independent, but supportive studio environment? This class for older students is an excellent opportunity for the budding artist to build their own artist's portfolio. Students will begin the class with a theme and an overall media of their choosing (drawing, painting, mixed media, etc.. no clay focus available) for their portfolio. They will then explore independently along with one-on-one teacher instruction, in addition to support from their fellow studio artists. Students will not only come away with a series of artwork that can be used for future art programs but also understand what it means to have an artistic voice and how they can relate to their own artwork. Class size is limited to 8 students, so register early!

Note: This class is appropriate for students to take for the first time, or to continue on from previous sessions as students will continue building their portfolios.
