We’re excited to announce our 2017 summer camps!

Join us for a summer full of art, movement, and plenty of creativity! Half day camps for ages 3.5 - 15 include clay, drawing, glass, painting, sewing, mixed media, and theme based visual art camps. For more information and to register, please read below. We'll see you this summer!


 

May 29th

School Day Off Camp

9:00am - 12:00pm

Join us for our final School Day Off Camp of the school year! We'll enjoy half day of art making to kick off the summer together. Please pack a snack and a water bottle.

Tinkering Around

Yup, well be Tinkering Around together all week long! During this 4-day camp for young artists, campers will have the opportunity to explore a variety of mediums and art materials. Young artists will enjoy working with clay to create adorable animals with wire and bead legs, design their very own batik t-shirts to wear all summer long, and explore the fun of printmaking together. Kick off the summer with this camp full of variety and creativity!

  • Ages 3.5* - 5 (*Children must have turned 3 by January 1, 2017. Please read our FAQs for more information.)

Sew Fun!

Design and sew your own stuffed animals! This week, we’ll teach both hand sewing and introduce basic machine sewing. Campers will learn to design and stuff their own plushy, create and sew a pillow, as well as other hand and machine sewn work. After learning the basics this week, sewing is a fantastic medium to continue working in long after camp ends!

Outdoor Art Adventures!

This experiential week of camp FUN involves lots of movement, art, and outdoor time in the park! We’ll pop paint-filled water balloons on large sheets of paper, make mega-sized bubbles, create slinky art, build a rocket, and have a blast making and running an art obstacle course! This Outdoor Art Camp will offer lots of playing, experimenting, creating, laughing, and definitely a little (washable) messiness—what could be better for summer fun?!

Fired Up!

Wheel Throwing + Hand Building

Children will have a blast this week exploring both hand building and wheel throwing techniques in ceramics. We'll split our class time between the pottery studio, where we'll learn how to throw on the wheels, and the main studio where we'll enjoy hand building pieces as well as altering our wheel thrown artwork. All pieces will be fired and painted or glazed, ready to fill your walls and cabinets! (Class size is limited to 12 students, so register early)

Please note: Our final glaze and painting day will be on Friday, 6/9. Therefore, glazed pieces will need to go back in the kiln to be fired and will be available for pick up 1 week later.

Moving Art!

Let’s get moving! This unique week full of movement and activity combines motion with art making. We’ll have a blast making moving sculptures like Alexander Calder, creating spin art on the wheels, and make our very own pendulums to experiment with how gravity, momentum, physics, and paint combine to make beautiful works of art!

Glass Art

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to work with the age-old art of glass. (There is evidence that the Egyptians knew how to fuse glass as early as 2000 BCE!) Learning safe techniques for handling and working with glass, students will learn to fuse glass in the kiln, combine glass into ceramic work to create fascinating colors and textures, and more during this fantastic week of camp!

June 19th - 23rd

Clay Camp: Let's Eat!

What could be better than a week of playing with clay! Join us as we learn hand building techniques to create ceramic art together. Children will make their very own functional dish set including a mug, plate, and a bowl this week to take home and eat off of! In addition, we’ll enjoy making a creative sculptural piece and will even get to play and explore on the pottery wheels one day this week! (Our Pottery Wheel day will be an exploration only). Don’t miss this awesome week of camp where campers will take home artwork that they’ll enjoy using for years to come!

    Realistic Drawing

    We will be exploring how to draw people, animals, and nature using both traditional and contemporary drawing techniques with media such as pencils, pen and ink, charcoal, and more. Building upon various realistic drawing techniques, this camp will culminate in an independent project of each student's choosing. Now let’s get drawing!

    June 26th - 30th

    Toys, Toys, Toys!

    In this special week of camp, children will enjoy learning about and making all kinds of TOYS! We’ll explore the age-old art of toy making while making our own old fashioned climbing toys, spinners, jacob's ladder, mini-bowling set and more!

    Wacky Wire Camp

    1:00pm - 4:00pm

    We’ll use all sorts of wire to create sculptures large and small. Learning about the principles of sculpture building and creating in the 3rd dimension, students will gain experience and understanding with this engaging material. Wire is a wonderful medium that is incredibly versatile and super fun to work with. We’ll make free standing sculptures, miniatures, an Alexander Calder style balanced hanging mobile, and more in this fun week full of colorful, flexible, and wacky wires!

    Fairy Keepers Camp

    Our Fairies Camp is back by very popular demand! Come on a journey with us this week as we explore the magical, beautiful, and exciting world of fairies! We’ll make our own human-sized fairy wings to fly with our fairy friends, build fairy houses for special fairies to live, and plant fairy gardens to make sure they have a place to frolic and play! We’ll use our imaginations, play, and create plenty of fairy-related art during this fun week of exploration and creation together with other fairy lovers!

    Ceramic Sculpture

    1:00pm - 4:00pm

    In this camp, taught by experienced ceramic artist and high school ceramics teacher, Colleen Dowling, campers will learn to use the slab roller, molds and forms, as well as free form hand building to create intriguing ceramic sculptures. At the end of the week, all work will be fired in the kiln, painted or glazed, and ready to take home. This week will be an absolute blast!

    Where the Wild Things Roam!

    Come on an adventure with us! This week, students will be inspired by stories such as Where the Wild Things Are and other great adventures and turn into explorers while creating their own creatures, islands, habitats, and other fantastical places! In addition to painting and using mixed media materials, students will use sculptural materials such as clay, wire, and wood, to build imaginative environments. Let’s go where the wild things roam!

    Artsy Science Camp

    Science + Art is a perfect match! Campers will have a blast as they use art to explore all kinds of scientific concepts—gaining new insights and understanding while playing, creating, and experimenting! We’ll watch as secondary colors separate into their primary color components, create artwork from oil and water, grow our own crystals, and lots more! We’ll experiment, play, watch, learn, and create all week together!

    Game Makers Camp

    Make your own Clay Marble Maze, Foosball set up, Straw Rocket Launcher, and more in this awesome camp! Become a master Game Maker and bring your games home to keep playing with friends long after camp ends. This exciting camp week combines art, creative problem solving, and imagination all while creating! Students will also have the chance to invent their own games this week using the wide range of materials available in the studio. Let the games begin!

    Painters Camp

    Join us on an adventure into all things painting! We’ll learn fun watercolor techniques, paint with acrylics on canvas, and play with colors on paper, fabric, and other materials. Students will gain an understanding into color theory, mixing, and explore different paint mediums. Camp will culminate in an independent painting project working from a reference of each student’s choosing. Now let’s paint!

    July 31st - August 4th

    MindArt: A Mindfulness Based Art Camp

    9:00am - 12:00pm 

    Join us for a special week of MindArt! Mindfulness is a type of awareness that is developed by paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgement. Through an arts-integrated approach, campers will develop a foundation of Mindfulness skills all while creating fun and memorable art projects! Join us on a quest to let go of auto-pilot, pay curious attention to each moment, and enjoy the pursuit of living a mindful life!

    Printmakers Camp

    Printmaking is one of our very favorite mediums! The advent of the printing press changed the world—join us this week and it might change your art-making life forever too! Children will make their own stamps and printing plates to print images on paper, fabric, and other surfaces. We’ll explore mono-printing, linoleum block printing, and lots more before the week culminates in a unique screen printing project! Kids will make their own screens, and then use them to print on t-shirts as well as any other clothing, fabric, or papers of their choice! With printmaking, the possibilities to create are truly endless!

    August 7th - August 11th

     

    Meet the Masters!

    9:00am - 12:00pm 

    Students will learn about famous artists by "trying on" their techniques in this fun camp for 5 - 9 year olds. We'll use many types of media including fabric, paint, and clay to explore artists like Gustav Klimt, make colorful and bold geometric shape t-shirts inspired by Sonya Delaunay, and even try our hand at bas-relief (low relief) sculpture in the style of Italian Renaissance artists Donatello and Michelangelo. This is sure to be an awesome week of art and learning!

    The Independent Artist's Camp: Portfolios

    1:00pm - 4:00pm 

    For the artist who wants to bring their own interests, questions and ideas, while creating work in a supportive studio environment, this camp is for you! Students will start by choosing their medium(s) and enjoy a full week of self-directed projects, have the studio and materials at their disposal (note: no ceramic work this week), and enjoy both teacher and peer support and guidance as they build their own portfolio over our five days together. Please note that the successful student in The Independent Artists Camp will be one whos motivated to create their own works of their choosing. Class size is limited to 10 students, so register early!

    Summer Camp Cancellation Policy:

    • Payment is due in full at time of registration. Your registration includes a $50 non-refundable deposit. In the event of a cancellation, the remainder of your payment (-$50 non-refundable deposit) will be refunded up to 14 days prior to the start of the camp. Within 14 days of the camp start date, your payment is non-refundable.
    • A minimum of 5 students must be enrolled in order for camp to be held. We will notify you if your camp might not run due to low enrollment.
