a new community ceramics studio in South Boulder, CO, opening in early 2025

Clay Hub by Tinker Art Studio is a new community ceramics studio opening in early 2025. The studio is located adjacent to our primary studio, in South Boulder. Clay Hub will be a space infused with our three pillars: Community, Connection, and Creativity. The 2,200 square foot studio will be divided into two spaces: a teaching studio and a membership studio, partitioned by a large glass overhead garage door. The teaching studio will be accessible from Tinker’s current outdoor patio space, which has been expanded to include the entrance to Clay Hub’s teaching studio. The membership studio will be accessed via the entrance on the brick walkway, just across from Southside Walnut Cafe.

We can’t wait to welcome our amazing community into Clay Hub. If you have any questions at all, please reach out! We’d love to hear from you. Be sure to follow us on Instagram @TinkerArtStudio to see progress and behind the scenes as we begin construction on this incredible new facility!

At Clay Hub, just like at Tinker, our mission is to cultivate community, connection, and creativity through the arts.

On this page, you’ll find helpful information and FAQs about our new studio. Our Spring Semester pottery classes will be held in Clay Hub, with expanded and additional offerings, so if you’ve been on a Waitlist for a pottery class, we can’t wait to get you in!

The Teaching Studio will function very similarly to our current Ceramics Studio, but with more space, more wheels, more storage, and even an awesome demo wheel with an overhead camera and screen! In the Teaching Studio we’ll run after school classes for children and teens, daytime and evening classes for adults, try-it-out workshops, birthday parties, private events, and more. To view and register for youth classes, click here!

With our expanded class offerings, we cannot wait to welcome you or your child into the studio!

The membership studio will be a space for members to create in community. All levels are welcome. If you’ve taken pottery classes with us at Tinker (or equivalent elsewhere), and you feel comfortable working independently, we’d love to have you! No matter what stage of your ceramics journey you are in -- a beginner, a dabbler, a hobbyist, an enthusiast -- as long as you're in alignment with our values and policies (detailed in our membership handbook), you’re welcome in our studio. If you’re more clay curious at this point, a class or workshop would be a better fit. But if you’ve got the bug, well, join the club.

I am clay curious and want to try out a pottery class, but I’m not ready for a full session. How do I get started?

First of all, welcome to the first day of your life with clay… it’s better over here 😎 Next up, we have fantastic options for potters just starting out, or people curious about working in clay—both hand building and throwing on the pottery wheels. On select Saturday evenings, we offer Try-it-Out Workshops, as well as Intro to Wheel Throwing: Quick Sessions (5-ish week classes). Have a clay-inclined kid (age 7+) in your life? We’re excited to offer Throw Together Workshops: adult/child wheel throwing workshops on select Friday afternoons!
