Teen Volunteer Assistant Program (TVAP)

Working alongside our Front Desk Team and Studio Prep Team, teens will gain experience supporting the backend workings of a busy art studio.

Volunteer duties could include:

  • Assisting in School Day Off Camps when BVSD is out of school (please include any days you’re available to assist in your initial email)

  • Prepping materials for upcoming projects

  • Swapping out art supplies and materials between projects

  • Pouring paints into palettes for camper use

  • Washing brushes, palettes and other art materials

  • Refilling and restocking art materials such as paint bottles, cut paper strips, loose parts, etc

  • Testing and sorting markers, sharpening pencils, etc

  • Stamping folders

  • Sweeping and cleaning

  • Sorting and labeling artwork

  • …and more!

While most of our volunteer opportunities are for physical time helping in the studio with the style of tasks listed above, if you have any particular skillset you’d like to lend during your time as a volunteer, please include that in your initial communications.

Each Summer, Tinker runs a Teen Volunteer Assistant Program for rising 9th - 12th graders. This program allows teens to volunteer in a fun and fast-paced summer camp setting. Working alongside our Front Desk Team and Studio Teachers, teens will gain experience supporting the backend workings of a busy art studio, and supporting children in a summer camp setting.

Summer Camp daily volunteer duties could include:

  • Supporting students by being a model and engaging in conversation with campers

  • Supporting teachers with in-studio tasks such as knot tying, working with pliers during a specific projects, during other teacher-intensive support times, or while using teacher-tools to support a larger group of students
